The Back Story

Have you ever heard the quote from John Lennon that “life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”?

That certainly applies to me. As a nerdy, 20 year old computer science student, from a small town in the Midwest, my big goal growing up was to graduate from a good school and get a job making $60,000 a year.

Yet somehow, I found myself at Berkeley in 1994, designing third generation Internet software, just as the first generation of the public Internet took off. So I took my research, started a company, raised $20 million – and burned out twice.

After the second burnout, I had a spiritual “wake up” experience, walked away from Silicon Valley, and immersed myself in 6 years of full time personal and spiritual growth.

I felt a strong calling to help spread consciousness raising work, so I hung out my shingle as a life and executive coach, but struggled to get clients at even $350 a month.

The thing was, I was really good at business. But when it came to selling transformational services, everything I knew from my years as an entrepreneur stopped working.

It was bizarre.

I knew I was on course, doing the work I was meant to be doing, yet it was like I’d hit a wall. And as I started talking to others, I found out that they were hitting a wall as well.

So despite being REALLY clear that my calling did not have anything to do with all “that old selling and marketing stuff I used to do” I started trying to figure out what was going on.

Over the next four years, I learned the hard way why traditional business is the opposite of what works for selling transformational services. I discovered what to do instead. I used this new approach, called Selling By Giving, to launch my own practice. And I started helping others.

While it was never something I planned on, after ten years, Selling By Giving is being hailed as a breakthrough – as a new, different, more conscious, more enjoyable way to attract and enroll your ideal clients and patients.

Brian Whetten, Ph.D.

Nicole Whetten, M.A.

Nicole is an intuitive. She has an uncanny ability to understand people, often deeper than they understand themselves. She is able to directly sense people’s truth, blocks and purpose.

Nicole couples this with a Masters Degree in Spiritual Psychology and ten years of experience as a master coach and healer.

With the birth of Annibelle, Nicole’s services have become particularly treasured. As a full time mother, she only works with a few clients at a time, and her coaching slots are some of the most sought after services we offer.

Kelly Talbot, M.Ed.

Kelly is a senior coach and licensed therapist, with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. Kelly is particularly passionate about helping business people organize their lives, so they can get more done in less time, and have more time for joy.

She has a gift of supporting clients and holding them accountable to their commitments, as a way of creating life changing new patterns and habits. She’s also able to work with any deep blocks or conflicts that arise. Kelly lives in British Columbia, with her husband and their beautiful dogs.

Ella is a master coach and business leadership consultant. She specializes in supporting the leaders of values based businesses.

Annibelle is our ambassador of joy, spreading laughter and light wherever she goes. An empath with boundaries, she inspires us each day, with her inventions, creativity, drawing, and flying trapeeze (yes…really…at 22 months…we tried to talk her out of it…but…well…watch the video.)

Leilanna (“Mighty”)

Leilanna is Annibelle’s partner in crime. A booty shaking Buddha with a wicked sense of humor. A born leader, she runs her preschool with one part kindness, three parts laughter, a strong sense of fairness, and cookies for all.
